In Ukraine floral headdresses have a long tradition

Known as vinoks, they were historically worn by young, unmarried women to signify a peaceful, clear sky above her head.

A floral wreath is depicted on the sarcophagus of Yaroslav the Wise. Historians believe that the Ukrainian wreath symbolizes a peaceful, clear sky above the wearer's head, serving as a charm against evil forces and misfortunes.
